IVVC Law Enforcement Program Unveils “Wrapped Squad”
In the spring of 2024, the Aurora Police Department generously donated a 2015 Ford Explorer
Police Interceptor to the Law Enforcement program at the Indian Valley Vocational Center
(IVVC). While the vehicle was a valuable addition for student training, years of service and
constant exposure to the elements had taken a toll on the paint, interior, and body.
Faced with the challenge of preserving the squad car and inspired by a vision to enhance
community engagement, Law Enforcement Instructor Jim Kerry set the wheels in motion for the
“Wrap the Squad” project. With approval secured and strong support from community partners,
the project quickly gained momentum.
Thanks to the generosity and expertise of several local businesses, the squad was completely
transformed. The process began with D&J Dent Removal, where Seth Luker and his team
repaired dents along the doors and rear of the vehicle left from years of service at Aurora PD.
From there, Matt Slaughter and the crew at All About Detail prepared the car for its new look
by restoring the paint and ensuring a clean foundation for the next steps.
The transformation continued at Inkfli Printing, where Jon Krumme installed custom graphics
on-site at All About Detail. The vehicle immediately began to take on a new identity, showcasing
both professionalism and school pride. Once graphics were complete, Matt and his team
applied FEYNLAB Heal Plus coating, restored the black plastics with FEYNLAB Black Plastic
Ultra, treated the glass with FEYNLAB Glass Treatment, and finished the wheels with
FEYNLAB Industrial USA to reduce brake dust build-up. The final result: a fully revitalized
squad ready to serve as both a training tool and a community showcase.
The wrapped squad will play a key role in IVVC’s Law Enforcement program. Beyond being
used in classroom training—such as traffic stops, accident reconstruction, and mass casualty
incident drills—it will also serve as a community engagement vehicle. Students will debut the
car in several upcoming homecoming parades and hope to feature it at community events
alongside law enforcement partners.
Mr. Kerry shared his gratitude:
“This project wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible generosity of our
community. A special thank you goes to IVVC Director Mr. Barbic, as well as Matt
Slaughter at All About Detail, Jon Krumme at Inkfli Printing, and Seth Luker at D&J
Dent Removal. Their hard work and support gave new life to this squad and
provided our students with a vehicle they can be proud of.”
The “Wrapped Squad” project highlights not only the value of hands-on learning but also the
power of community partnerships.
