Auto Body students had a busy second quarter working on some lawn mowers, motorcycles, and cars.
One of our customers wanted to restore an old Cub Cadet lawn mower for his father as a present. The mower mostly needed light body work and sanding to complete the job. This was a two-tone paint job: gold and cream just like the original mower.
The second mower is a custom paint job that will be black cherry in color with a WWI fighter plane shark mouth on the sides of the mower. This one will be a display piece when it is complete.
We have also been working towards getting a few motorcycle paint jobs completed. The first is a 1978 Kawasaki KZ model that will be a candy red with factory pinstripes applied. This one had a couple of small dents to be repaired, but we were able to complete those repairs quickly.
We have another Kawasaki; this one a 1976 KZ model. It will be a custom orange candy. We also painted the fairing for a Harley Davidson, and Mr. Winters pinstriped it to match the rest of the bike. The last one we have is a Honda CB model that will be a black cherry and maroon two-tone.
We have a pedal car that we are painting. This pedal car will be painted and auctioned off at the World of Wheels with all proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. We have flaked it gold and will then add graphics before we complete it.
Now that we have returned from holiday break, we have projects starting up right away. We have a truck that will need to have the wheel wells patched due to rust, and the inner wheel well replaced on one side. We also have a minivan that will need some front end work. We are now in full swing working to complete the repairs. The second semester will be “all hands on deck” with the work that needs to be completed!
