Construction Trades Home Update
Construction Trades
By Lily Richardson and Rylee Elliott
In Construction trades we have been working on both the interior and exterior of our house project.
For the interior of the house things have been moving very smoothly. All of the framing is done besides a few pieces of drywall backers. Along with that we have begun our final tasks before our rough-in inspection which is coming up in the next week. This involves us finishing a few electrical items throughout the house. We have started connecting all of our smoke detectors and we made a list of everything in each room that needs to be done this week. Each room is different, some just need a few more wires run and others need drywall backing and fans connected along with finalizing the install of the pocket doors.
Exterior work has begun and we expect to continue working on installing exterior materials as the weather permits. All windows and exterior doors have been installed. The soffit and siding materials have begun with the majority of the soffit installed. In the future we are planning on installing a faux stone material on the lower half of the front elevation. We are considering installing a gable end detail to accent the front elevation as well.
Overall the schedule if the house is on pace to be completed by the end of the school year. This real-world project has been valuable to allow students to see and participate in many different construction careers.
