What is Happening in the World of EMS?
We have been busy since returning from winter break. EMS students have learned about pharmacology, resume building, professional interviewing, and have begun learning about medical emergencies. The students have been hard at learning what medications they are allowed to give, how to give it, dosages, indications and contraindications.
We have also spent time building professional resumes and going over the importance of making positive impressions while interviewing. The students have started completing rotations at their clinical sites that include the Emergency Room and on the ambulance at surrounding Fire Departments.
EMS just began to learn about medical emergencies such as respiratory, cardiac, stroke, diabetes, and seizures. They learn about the actual disease process and how it affects the body and patient, and how to treat this disease process prehospital.
