Students Prepared for any Culinary Field
The Culinary Arts program at Indian Valley Vocational Center has built the foundation of my knowledge and passion in the culinary field, thanks to the dedication and commitment of the Instructor, Chef Kling.
With the multiple buffets that we host throughout the year, our knife skills unit, the ServSafe certification, and individual projects with the chance to hone your taste and interests, each student has the opportunity to experiment and discover themselves through the food that they create, while learning the rigorous techniques and standards of a professional kitchen to prepare them for the culinary world.
We do have a special focus in the care and organization that goes into each buffet; we’ve learned everything from testing our recipes that we make and how to adjust each of them to either improve it or tone it down to an achievable level for it to be a success, to pricing each ingredient from a recipe to assign a reasonable price to every dish, applying culinary math to accurately multiply the amount of ingredients that we need for the large volume of customers that we get, and more importantly learning how to successfully work and communicate with others as you would in any culinary field.
Chef Kling purposely covers multiple areas and aspects to prepare his students for any challenges and obstacles that they will inevitably face in the culinary world, but more importantly how to overcome those hardships and learn from them.
