Young Woman Inspired for Career in Auto Tech
As a woman, I’ve always questioned what I was going to do as a career. I wanted to do something I was interested in, such as welding or auto tech. But I always had that fear of being put on the back burner and forgotten about.
But with the IVVC Auto Tech program, I’ve felt welcome, and have been treated the same as everyone else. I’ve been given so many opportunities that I never thought I’d been given before. For example, I have been given the opportunity to go to college down in Champaign at Parkland College for the Ford ASSET program.
I’ve always been inspired by the people around me, such as my father and brother. My brother went through the IVVC Auto Tech program, and encouraged me to go through the same program, because he had such an amazing experience. I’m glad I listened to him by choosing to go through the same program.
Without the inspiration from my brother, my dad, and my teacher, Mr. Vincent, I wouldn’t know where to go next in the automotive world, I wouldn’t have known what to do next as a profession, and I wouldn’t have learned as much as I have without the IVVC Auto Tech program.
