March is National Athletic Training Month
March is National Athletic Training Month! Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs) are essential to health care. As allied health care professionals, Athletic Trainers are experts in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. In our Sports Medicine class here at IVVC, students learn about the path to becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer, where ATCs work, and what their day to day responsibilities are.
During this month we’d like to recognize four Athletic Trainers that serve as internship supervisors to our 2nd year students: Kaylyn Petzer, Sandwich HS; Josh Walter, Plano HS; Nicole Collins and Taeope Wetterman, Yorkville HS. Each is an integral part of our program and add so much to students’ experiences here in IVVC Sports Medicine.
I am proud to be a Certified Athletic Trainer, and even more proud to introduce my students to the profession, and help develop the future of Athletic Training!
